#HOW TO HANDLE PUBLIC TANTRUMS ! #DR.PRIYANKA VERMA #HEALTHTIPS #MEDICAL ISSUES
Think ahead and plan for the difficult moments before you leave the house. That means, bring snacks or fidget-spinners or other gadgets to help your toddler through tough moments.
PUBLIC TANTRUM GAMEPLAN
✳︎ Stay Calm- take a few deep breathes before saying a word.
✳︎ Think about your child’s experience, “How would I behave if I were tired, hungry and bored?”
✳︎ Move somewhere quieter— even just to a different corner of the room. You are moving so you don’t feel watched and judged.
✳︎ When a toddler has a tantrum, she can’t think logically and gets lost in her feelings.
✳︎ Okay the feelings but not the behaviour. Keep it short and sweet, this is not the time to teach. “You’re angry that you had to get out of the pool. It’s okay to be angry but it’s not okay to throw your shoes.”
✳︎ remind yourself, tantrums are normal and healthy.
PRO-TIP: Don’t wait for behaviours to deteriorate. Leave at a good moment so there are happy memories.
