🌴 MORPHOLOGY
• It is a annual herb with Latex.
• Root is taperoot and benched.
• Stem is errect, herbaceous, cylindrical, hairy with Latex , colour is green.
• Leaf is simple, alternate, sessile.
• Inflorescence is terminal, solitary terminal cymose.
• Flowers are bisexual, complete.
• Fruit is small, white/black in colour.
• Useful part is Latex, Seeds.

1. Darunaka - Paste prepared from Ahiphena beeja and added milk and applied aver scalp.
2. Atisar - Ahiphena mixed with Kupilu and Honey.
3. Kasa - Khaskhas niryuha.

🌴 MATRA
Latex - 30 to 125 mg
Churna - 1 to 3 g
Beeja - 2 to 5 g

🌴 SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF ACUTE POISONING
These are 3 stages
1. Stage of excitement - In this stage patient will have sense of well being anxiety, restlessness, hallucinations, increased action of heart.
2. Stage of Stupor -  Depressive action, headache, heaviness, giddiness, pupils are contracted and pin pointed.
3. Stage of Coma - In this no response, no shaking of the body, later no response from the all secretions, depressed pupils contracted to intensive light, low blood pressure.


Effects on Dosha

This herb is :

 Madakari,Grahi ,hara ,Sukrastambhakswashar , nidrajanan , balya , vrishya, shoolprashmana .  It is best used in kasa, atisara, jvaraand nidranasha.

🌴 TREATMENT FOR ACUTE POISONING
• Gastric lavage with potassium permanganate.
• Endotracheal Clearance.
• Maintain body heat by using hot bags.
• Start giving antidote : Morphine - 60 to 180 mg
                                       : Codeine - 400 mg
• Total life period 45 min to 12 hrs.

🌴 CONTRAINDICATIONS
Bala, Vriddha, Diabetic, Visucika, kasa, kapha, inflamation of kidney.

🌴 SHODHANA OF AHIPHEN
Ahiphena is subjected to Bhavana with Adraka swarasa for 21 times.
